E-Safety

E-safety is an integral part of the education here at Llangynwyd and is included in PSE challenge days and in the Digital Literacy/ICT lessons.

As a parent, you will know how important the internet is for children – they use it to learn, play and socialise. However, children who use everyday technology may become distressed and you may be worried about the risks that your child can face online – such as bullying, contact by strangers or the possibility they will be see illegal or inappropriate content.

You can download more information here.

We advise that you discuss e-safety with your children:

Ask your children to tell you about the sites they like to visit and what they enjoy doing it online.

Ask them how they stay safe online. What suggestions do they have for you, and where did they learn? What’s right and not right to share?

Ask them if they know where to go for help, where to find the security advice, privacy settings and how to report or block the services they use.

Encourage them to help. They may be able to show you how to do something better online or they may have a friend who would benefit from their help and help.

Think about how you use the internet as a family. What you can do to get more out of the internet together and enjoy your online lives further

At school

As part of your child’s curriculum and the development of ICT skills, all PCs in the school have internet access. Parents and children are both asked to sign the Acceptable Use Policy. We strongly believe that the use of the web and email is extremely worthwhile and is an essential tool for children as they grow up in the modern world. Our internet access provider to our school operates a filtering system that restricts access to inappropriate materials.
