YGGLLAN: Kyan Memorial Race 16/9/2025

Dear parents/guardians,

On Tuesday 16th of September the whole school will complete a 2km course, which is now an annual event in the School calendar in memory of a former learner who fought cancer.  We will celebrate Kyan’s life together as Llangynwyd family and we kindly ask every learner to donate £1 through the school gateway app, which is now open and will close on 22nd of September.  All money raised will go towards the charity Velindre Hospital.   We are also sharing with you a link to our ‘just giving page’ for you to share with family and friends to sponsor this event.  All learners have received the arrangements for the race at school and are allowed to come to school in their official Health and Wellbeing kit and a top their house colour (Garw, Ogwr or Llynfi). Either the school’s Health and Wellbeing hoodie or the school’s official jumper are acceptable.  Thank you very much for your support.

Subject: Invitation to Take Part in Dissertation Research on Welsh-Medium Education

Dear Parent/Carer,

You are invited to take part in a research study exploring parents’ experiences with Welsh-medium education in Bridgend.

This research is being carried out by Olivia Hitchcock, an MSc Education student at Cardiff University. As part of her dissertation, Olivia is investigating the factors that influence parents’ decisions to enrol their children in Welsh-medium schools, and how engaged they feel in their children’s education.

The aim of the research is to better understand parents’ perspectives and experiences, with the hope of informing future discussions around Welsh-medium education policy and practice.

Taking part would involve an informal interview at a time that suits you. Participation is entirely voluntary, and any information you share will be treated with strict confidentiality. The school will not be informed about who does or does not choose to take part, and all data will be anonymised in the final report.

If you are interested in taking part or would like to find out more, please contact Olivia directly at hitchcocko@cardiff.ac.uk.

Thank you for considering this invitation.
