Careers and the world of work is an important part of the school curriculum and in preparing young people for their future move into employment. As a school we ensure that all young people get the opportunity to learn about the world of work, the skills, knowledge and qualifications employers need, and the range of careers choices available. Although not a requirement the school continues to offer the opportunity for learners to carry out placements with an employer in year 10 and year 12.<\/p>\n

The school works closely with Careers Wales and has a dedicated Careers Wales officer at the school twice a week to offer impartial advice to learners. They also share information about local career opportunities such as apprenticeships through the Careers Wales<\/a> website as well as the school careers notice board. From year 7 learners are given access to the Careers Wales<\/a> website which includes a range of information and activities associated with employment and the world of work. At KS4 they are provided with a Unifrog account. Unifrog.org<\/a> is a user-friendly platform that helps students as they research and plan their future – be it for further study, apprenticeships or employment.<\/p>\n

In addition the school provides a variety of activities through the main curriculum and designated Challenge days so that our learners can make well informed decisions in regards to their future.<\/p>\n

KS3<\/td>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Enterprise activities such as creating and selling a product or service.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Recognise the need to become competent at managing personal finances.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Understand how to write a CV and prepare for an interview.<\/p>\n
